Invitation to Attend: Community-Based Care (CBC) Legal Community Convening
Date: January 14, 2024
Time: Doors open/sign-in 8:30, Program from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
Location: McLennan County Courthouse, 501 Washington Avenue, Waco, TX 76701
Community-Based Care (CBC) is the new foster care model in Texas under which most Child Protective Services duties transfer from the state agency to a local service network led by a Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC). DFPS has recently announced that they will begin the formal procurement process for advertising a Request for Application for our community (Region 7A).
The Children’s Commission and CBC7 are partnering to provide an opportunity to learn more about Community-Based Care and what to expect as this change occurs. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from judges and attorneys from other regions of the state that are currently operating under the CBC model.
The preliminary agenda includes topics such as:
Parking and entrance: The annex building is located just across the alley behind the main courthouse, right at the intersection of 6th Street and Columbus Avenue. Participants will find an entrance in the alley. It's recommended to park in the courthouse parking lot on Washington Avenue, then walk along the sidewalk next to 6th Street to reach the alley behind the courthouse, where they can access the annex building. The courtroom in the annex is situated on the first floor.
